Nvidia has officially completed its purchase of Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, ending weeks of speculation. Hugging Face's platform, which hosts three million models, one million apps, and half a million datasets for over 18 million developers, will remain open, according to CEO Jensen Huang, who pledged that Nvidia hardware won't be a requirement for using the service.
A technical walkthrough details how diffusion language models work as an alternative to the dominant autoregressive approach used by most LLMs today. Rather than generating text token-by-token in sequence, diffusion models produce an entire sequence at once and refine it over multiple steps, drawing on techniques like masking, iterative refinement, and post-training used in recent open-source models. The material stems from workshop talks and lectures given at ICLR 2026 and MLSS 2026.
Tencent has released Hy4 preview, a large language model with 770 billion total parameters, 49 billion active parameters, and a context window over 1 million tokens, aimed at coding, office and research tasks. The model is open-source and also accessible via Tencent's WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy, Yuanbao and ima apps, plus API access through Tencent Cloud TokenHub and OpenRouter, with free trials offered for two weeks.
Nvidia has been negotiating to buy Hugging Face, the open-source AI model-sharing platform, in a deal that would value the startup at more than $13 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter. No agreement has been reached and talks could still collapse. Microsoft had also explored a deal with Hugging Face but those discussions are no longer active.
