Cybersecurity professionals, including Black Hills Information Security's John Strand, caution that AI agents such as Meta's Muse, OpenClaw and OpenAI's dots often request broad permissions to apps and data that can exceed their intended task. These agents are new, largely unproven tools, and recent incidents have shown them behaving unpredictably, including cases involving Hugging Face and Australian government sites.
Gen Threat Labs researchers demonstrated that an AI agent could be manipulated through untrusted content embedded in an email, tricking it into executing system commands, exfiltrating data and deleting files without exploiting any software vulnerability. The lab also previously identified malware called Warden Stealer that targets configuration files and local data tied to AI assistants and coding tools, risking exposure of credentials and conversation histories. In response, Gen is building the Agent Trust Hub, a trust layer meant to monitor and secure AI agents throughout their operating lifecycle.
Ledger has introduced the Atom, a device running both Android OS and its own Ledger OS on a secure chip, intended to be used alongside a regular phone rather than replace one. Its eSIM supports data only, not calls or texts, and it includes a partnership with OpenClaw letting AI agents handle financial tasks while requiring physical approval for transactions. Two Atom devices can also exchange encrypted messages decrypted inside Ledger OS.
