1 GoKawiil brief on this topic

Viking-era tapestry fragments from Oseberg ship burial detailed

Archaeologists excavating the Oseberg ship burial mound in Norway in 1904 recovered fragments of a woven tapestry alongside other grave goods and two female bodies. The tapestry, woven from wool, silk and flax and dated to around 834 AD, measures 16 to 23 centimeters wide, though its original full length remains unknown. It depicts an array of human and animal figures and was found among other textiles including rugs and curtains, most embroidered with mythological and battle imagery.
