ODIHR skipped election observers for Sweden; fraud cases now under investigation

Ahead of Sweden's election, OSCE's ODIHR assessed the need for international observers and concluded none were required, citing high trust in the Swedish electoral system and the Election Authority's work. Since the election, several suspected electoral crimes have surfaced, including a Borlänge investigation into three people suspected of improper influence on voters, a separate corruption case, and suspected vote-buying in Piteå and Luleå. Nearly 10,000 appeals of the election result have been filed with the Election Review Board, far more than in previous elections.
