Amazon's 2026 Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition keeps the IPX8 waterproofing and adjustable warm light of prior models while adding an oxide thin-film transistor display backplane that Amazon says delivers its highest-ever contrast ratio. New features include a double-tap gesture for turning pages and an accelerometer for automatic screen rotation, alongside the returning auto-adjusting front light. The reviewer tested the device for two weeks but was unable to evaluate battery life.
