Photograph 51

1 GoKawiil brief on this topic

Rosalind Franklin's early work revealed DNA's A and B forms before Watson's claims

In 1951 and 1952, Rosalind Franklin and Raymond Gosling captured diffraction images of DNA at King’s College London, identifying two distinct structural forms known as A and B. Franklin’s notes and reports from that period show her focus on understanding what causes these forms and how to best image them, leading to Photograph 51, which contributed to DNA structure discovery. Her research predates and clarifies the sequence of findings attributed to Watson and Crick.
