Photon raises $4.5M seed round to build AI agents for messaging apps

Photon, a startup that helps developers build AI agents working over iMessage and WhatsApp, has raised $4.5 million in seed funding. The company says it has signed up more than 40,000 developers and grown revenue tenfold in four months. To mark the milestone, Photon staged a mock funeral for mobile apps in San Francisco, complete with a coffin for app icons and panels from Vercel, Stripe, and OpenAI.

Researchers use laser fault injection to bypass RP2350 secure debug lock

Security researchers demonstrated that Raspberry Pi's RP2350 microcontroller (revision A4) can have its permanently disabled Secure debug re-enabled through photon-emission microscopy combined with SWD-guided laser fault injection. By pinpointing the exact register controlling debug enablement and firing precisely targeted laser pulses, the team flipped two bits to restore debugger access to the chip's Secure world, later extracting a protected secret from one-time-programmable memory after a rescue reset bypassed the runtime lock.

Exein hits $1.7B valuation with $270M round for physical AI cybersecurity

Italian startup Exein raised $270 million led by Headline, valuing the Rome-based cybersecurity firm at $1.7 billion. The company, which secures over 2 billion connected devices across sectors like aerospace, automotive and healthcare, is expanding its focus from IoT to protecting physical AI systems such as robots, drones and self-driving cars.
