Google is highlighting that many persistent Android Auto connectivity problems stem not from the phone but from outdated software running on a car's infotainment system. The company recommends restarting the infotainment unit and, for aftermarket head units like Pioneer or Kenwood, checking the manufacturer's website for firmware updates.
Bluetti has introduced the Pioneer 5000, a portable power station built around a 5.12kWh LFP battery that it markets as an 'e-generator' rather than a solar generator. The unit can deliver up to 18kW of surge power for heavy equipment, is rated IP65 for dust and water resistance, operates in temperatures from -20°C to 55°C, and can be expanded to 35kWh capacity. It charges via combined AC and solar input at up to 6.2kW, though pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
Pioneer, known for its CarPlay head units, has entered the iPhone accessories market with a new product line designed for in-car use. The collection includes a MagSafe wireless charger, a phone mount, and USB-C charging options, now available for purchase on Amazon.
Jeff Dean, who departed Google this month after 27 years including stints as head of Google AI and chief scientist, made his first public appearance since leaving at the 2026 Frontier & Pioneer Symposium. He advised young people entering tech to skim many research abstracts rather than deeply study a few, arguing this builds a broader mental map for connecting unrelated ideas. Dean, now CEO of startup DiscoveryLoop, also urged workers to pursue mid-length, roughly five-year problems rather than overly ambitious or overly simple ones.
