GoKawiilInvestigation finds political campaigns keep texting wrong numbers despite opt-outs
A reporter documented receiving 1,735 political fundraising texts from 812 different phone numbers since March 2022, nearly all intended for a family relative who had made small Democratic donations. Despite replying 'STOP' 49 times and other explicit opt-out messages, texts continued arriving, including repeated appeals from groups like the DCCC and campaigns referencing Jon Ossoff, James Carville, and Cory Booker.
