Developer ports classic Mac OS to Nintendo Wii hardware

A developer using the handle Rairii has gotten classic Mac OS, including versions 7.6 and 9.2.2, to boot on the Nintendo Wii's desktop, after beginning the project on June 22, 2025. The work involved porting OpenBIOS to emulate the Open Firmware environment required by the classic Mac OS 'Trampoline' bootloader, building on Rairii's earlier experience porting Windows NT to PowerPC Mac hardware with similar ArtX-designed chipsets.

Haiku project releases BeBox emulator for BeOS and Hobbit prototypes

A new Haiku application called BeBox emulates Be Inc.'s original dual-processor BeBox computers, running BeOS for PowerPC from Developer Release 6 through R5.0.3 using the machines' own boot ROMs. It also reproduces the earlier Hobbit prototype hardware, built around dual AT&T Hobbit processors, using Be's surviving 1993-94 system disks. The emulator reconstructs the BeBox's front-panel LED 'blinkenlights,' CPU interpreters, graphics and sound chips, storage controllers, serial ports, and networking via an NE2000-compatible card with NAT support.

Apple's Copland OS booted in-browser via improved DingusPPC emulator

A developer has made Apple's abandoned Copland operating system runnable inside a web browser, using an enhanced version of the DingusPPC PowerMac emulator compiled to WebAssembly. The build shown is the final D11E4 version, and users can boot it, interact with its desktop, and launch included applications like GXSlidemaster and Eric's Solitaire directly from a webpage.
