Sony's official guidance only warns against placing the PS5 on long-fiber carpet, but it doesn't clarify how this applies differently across the original PS5, PS5 Slim, and PS5 Pro, which have different vent placements and stand designs. The original PS5 lacks vents on its vertical base, while the Slim and Pro have small vents there and include rail stands for horizontal use.
Sony has confirmed plans to end production of disc-based games starting in 2028, though existing PS5 consoles with disc drives will continue to support Blu-ray movies, DVDs and last-generation game discs. Owners of the Slim digital PS5 or PS5 Pro can add disc compatibility via a $79 detachable drive, though it does not work with the original Digital Edition model.
Razer has unveiled the Raiju V3 Pro Signature Edition, a premium PS5 controller with a see-through magnesium alloy shell, laser-etched glass touchpad, contactless TMR thumbsticks and six mappable buttons. It weighs 260 grams, supports up to 2,000Hz wireless polling for PC use, and ships with extras like a carrying case, swappable thumbstick caps and repair tools. Razer will produce only 1,337 units, releasing on November 10 with pricing still unannounced.
A developer known as ZiZc3 has released Hydroid, an open-source tool that lets jailbroken PS5 consoles run 64-bit Android games natively by recompiling ARM64 code rather than booting Linux or a virtual machine. Separately, homebrew front ends called Playden and PC5 add Steam and offline PC game support, while developer heydemoura's experimental EglantinePS5 emulator brings early Nintendo Switch 2 game compatibility to the console.
NordVPN's Threat Intelligence team identified malicious GitHub repositories disguised as the KyttyPS5 and AnyPS5 PlayStation 5 emulators. The fake projects install malware that adds exclusion rules to Microsoft Defender before deploying a program researchers suspect steals passwords and other personal data, and a cleanup script then erases its own traces.
NordVPN's Threat Intelligence team found malicious GitHub repositories impersonating the popular PS5 emulation tools AnyPS5 and Kyttyps5, tricking users into downloading a zip file with a Windows executable that steals passwords. The malware checks for signs of a sandbox or virtual machine before activating, adds exclusion rules to Microsoft Defender to avoid detection, and runs a cleanup script two minutes after infection to erase its traces.
Sony unveiled a new line of see-through DualSense controllers called the Prism Collection, offered in orange, green and gray with a glossy clear finish revealing internal components. Matching console plate covers were also announced in the same colors. Preorders open November 10 via PlayStation, with controllers priced at $85 and console covers at $75, shipping in February.
NordVPN's Threat Intelligence team identified malicious GitHub repositories posing as popular PS5 emulators like Kyttyps5 and AnyPS5. Once downloaded, the malware disables Microsoft Defender scanning, deploys an infostealer to harvest passwords and personal data, then deletes its own traces. NordVPN CTO Marijus Briedis says the fake software is designed to appear legitimate to emulation enthusiasts who routinely run unsigned files.

The $85 DualSense controllers show internal components through translucent plastic, while $75 console covers offer limited see-through panels around the fan. Preorders begin November 10, with shipping starting February 4, 2026.

Rockstar's game launches November 19 and will ship without a physical disc, meaning even boxed retail copies will only include a download code.

A hacker using the handle Jordy on X found a hypervisor flaw that enabled running Linux on PlayStation 5 consoles using an AI LLM, reported it to Sony, and received a $50,000 bug bounty. Jordy had reportedly agreed to hold off reporting until after GTA VI's release, but submitted the report early after someone else discovered the same bug. Sony subsequently released firmware 14.20 on October 21, 2026, closing the exploit used by the ps5-linux-loader project.
