Sony releases QSSR AI upscaling for base PS5, starting with Wolverine, Ghost of Yōtei

Sony has introduced Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR), a new AI upscaling tier built from its Project Amethyst collaboration with AMD, now available for the standard PS5. Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei are the first titles receiving patches today adding QSSR as an optional graphics setting, alongside the launch of Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition.

Sony makes enhanced PSSR upscaling default on PS5 Pro via system update

Sony's new PlayStation 5 system software update (26.06-14.00.00) turns on the 'Enhance PSSR Image Quality' setting by default for PS5 Pro owners. This applies Sony's newer, upgraded PSSR upscaling algorithm to games originally built around the first version of PSSR, without users needing to manually toggle it. The enhanced PSSR itself launched in March as an optional setting, not a new PSSR 2.0 release.
