Public Transport

2 GoKawiil briefs on this topic

Historians credit Blaise Pascal with inventing fixed-route public transit in 1662 Paris

Mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal, near the end of his life, launched a network of horse-drawn carriages in Paris called carrosses a cinq sols, or 'five penny carriages.' The eight-passenger vehicles ran on fixed, interconnecting routes at regular intervals of 7.5 to 15 minutes, rather than traveling point-to-point on demand.

New live map tracks all public transit across Belgium in real time

A newly launched interactive map displays every bus, tram, metro and train operated by De Lijn, STIB-MIVB, TEC and NMBS on a single interface. It shows real-time delays, stop locations and departure times for the country's combined public transport network.
