Google's Alexander Kuscher confirmed on the Android Faithful podcast that Magic Pointer and Rambler, two signature AI features on the new Googlebook laptops, will keep working without a Google AI Pro subscription. Googlebooks ship with a free 12-month AI Pro trial, but Kuscher said this sits on top of the base experience rather than gating these core tools.
Google has officially launched Googlebook, its Android-powered laptop platform built with Android, ChromeOS, Gemini, and partner hardware makers, starting at $899. Alongside the launch, Google is bringing Rambler, the smart dictation feature debuted on the Pixel 11, to every Googlebook, letting users clean up rambling speech into organized notes and action items.
Google has quietly updated its developer documentation to reveal that just seven Android phones currently support Gemini Nano 4: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra. These are the only devices officially equipped to run Google's latest on-device Gemini Intelligence features.
