LinkedIn, owned by Microsoft, is rolling out a feature enabling verified companies to strip false employment claims from user profiles. The tool targets people who list jobs they never actually held at a given organization.
An Entrepreneur contributor argues that hiring managers should stop overweighting resume signals like big-name employers, large budgets or big teams when evaluating marketing leader candidates. Instead, they say the key question is what a candidate actually diagnosed and improved in past roles, and whether they can quickly assess what a specific business needs marketing to do within their first weeks on the job. The piece also stresses that strong marketing leaders should help shape a company's value proposition, not just communicate it after the fact.
Recruiters say white-collar job applicants, including lawyers and bankers, are adding a brief personal hobbies line to their resumes to seem more human amid a competitive hiring market. According to a Wall Street Journal report, more than half of legal candidates placed by one recruiting firm last year included such a line, up sharply from prior years. Recruiters suggest the section be limited to a single line placed at the end of the resume.
A June 2026 Resume Builder survey of 1,000 recent bachelor's degree graduates found that 34% had a job offer pulled back after accepting it, with 13% saying it happened more than once. Separately, 68% reported being ghosted by employers after interviews, and 65% believe AI is reducing entry-level openings in their field.
