GoKawiilDiscord's experimental Rust client loads faster than Electron app in viral demo
Discord co-founder Stanislav Vishnevskiy posted a 15-second clip showing an in-development Rust-based client, internally called Discord Phoenix, finishing a cold start and loading the friends list before the current Electron app even displays its interface. Discord staff confirmed both apps launched from a true cold start, and noted the Rust client used about 290MB of RAM while running two accounts simultaneously.
