Restate raises $20M Series A to expand durable workflow engine for AI agents

Berlin-based startup Restate has closed a $20 million Series A round led by Singular, with participation from Redpoint Ventures and Capital One Ventures. Restate built its own storage, replication and redundancy systems rather than relying on an external database, according to co-founder Stephen Ewen.

Vals raises $40M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz to overhaul AI benchmarking

Vals, a startup founded in 2024 by former Palantir intern and Stanford student Rayan Krishnan, has raised a $40 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, following an earlier seed round from 8VC and Bloomberg Beta. The company aims to replace outdated academic AI benchmarks, which it says fail to keep pace with rapidly improving models, with more rigorous evaluation methods.

Comp AI raises $34M Series A for agentic security compliance platform

Comp AI, a startup building AI agents to automate security and compliance tasks like drafting policies and gathering audit evidence, announced a $34 million Series A led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures. The company was founded by Lewis Carhart, Claudio Fuentes, and Mariano Fuentes, who previously ran a workflow startup called LeapAI that they shut down after failing to find a sticky use case. Their frustration with the tedious SOC 2 compliance process while scaling LeapAI directly inspired Comp AI's product.
