A firmware update pushed through Samsung's SmartThings platform this week caused some Bespoke AI four-door refrigerators, mostly 2024-and-later models, to lose power and stop cooling. Owners in Korea reported their fridges went offline mid-update, with displays stuck on an update-checking message, forcing many to throw out spoiled food. Samsung has not responded to questions about the scope of the issue or a fix.
Samsung paused a SmartThings software update for its smart refrigerators in Korea after owners reported units losing power, screens failing, doors not auto-opening, and internal lights not turning on, leading to spoiled food. A Samsung representative confirmed on the company's forum that an error occurred during testing of the update and that emergency repairs were being handled through service centers. ZDNET Korea reported the faulty update reached users due to a system error, and Samsung said distribution has been stopped.
ULTRALOQ has released the Bolt Fingerprint smart lock, which the company describes as its first model fully integrated with Apple Home. The device supports fingerprint unlock for up to 50 fingers, 50 passcodes, auto-unlock, physical keys, and voice control via Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant, and connects directly over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without needing a separate hub bridge.
Google explains that using Find Hub to mark an Android device as lost will log it out of the owner's Google account and strip all cards from Google Wallet, with an option to show a contact message on the lock screen. If account access isn't possible, users can lock the phone remotely via android.com/lock by verifying their identity and phone number. Samsung devices with SmartThings Find offer a similar safeguard, automatically locking Samsung Wallet and pausing transactions until identity is confirmed.
