Retro hardware archive details Nintendo 64's Partner-N64 debugging dev kit

A detailed technical breakdown has surfaced describing the PARTNER-N64 PC development kit, built for Nintendo by Kyoto Microcomputer (KMC), which paired with a specially modified N64 console to give developers real-time debugging access. The modified console allowed the debugger software to trigger breakpoints that halted gameplay for memory inspection, and to reset the console via software command, made possible by rerouting IRQ and RESET signals from the cartridge slot to the CPU using added tie-line wires.

Resident Evil 4 GameCube debug build fully decompiled to matching C/C++ source

A new open-source project has produced a complete, byte-identical decompilation of the November 2004 debug prototype of Resident Evil 4 for GameCube, covering the main executable and all 114 overlay modules. The repository includes roughly 555,000 lines of reconstructed C/C++ code and 33,000 lines of headers, but no original game assets or disc data—users must supply their own dumped disc images to build and verify the match.
