Terasaki Institute Develops Contact Lens That Detects Serotonin in Tears
Researchers at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation created a reusable smart contact lens embedded with graphene and silver electrodes that can detect serotonin in tears. The lens uses a ferrocene-coated graphene sensor designed to pick up the neurotransmitter despite its very low concentration in tear fluid, offering a potential noninvasive way to track stress-related biochemistry.
