A developer found that copying the login.keychain-db file from one Mac to another no longer works on macOS Tahoe when the destination Mac has a Secure Enclave chip. Previously, users could transfer this SQLite-based keychain file and unlock it on a new machine simply by entering the correct password, but that method now fails.
Apple has released a fourth round of release candidate builds for macOS Tahoe 26.7 (build 25G229) and macOS Sequoia 15.8 (build 24H23) to developers and public beta testers. The updates focus primarily on bug fixes and performance improvements rather than new features, and come shortly after Apple's product event.
Apple offers a built-in tool called Apple Diagnostics that tests a MacBook's internal hardware to determine whether issues like shutdowns, display glitches or keyboard failures stem from hardware or software. The tool isn't found in System Settings but is accessed during the startup sequence, and the steps differ depending on whether the machine uses Apple silicon or an Intel chip. On macOS 26 Tahoe and later, users can run individual tests on components like the display, keyboard or trackpad, while older systems run the full diagnostic automatically.
Apple has pushed out RC 2 builds for macOS Tahoe 26.7 (build 25G224) and macOS Sequoia 15.8 (build 24H20) to developers, alongside the seventh developer beta of macOS 27 Golden Gate. The update follows last week's first release candidate, which leaked footage and details about upcoming AirPods with cameras using Visual Intelligence.
