Reports point to a major MacBook Pro redesign, possibly branded MacBook Ultra, expected around October. Rumored changes include an OLED display, the first touchscreen on a Mac, and a switch from the current notch to a hole-punch camera cutout with Dynamic Island support in macOS.
Bloomberg reports that Meta's upcoming Muse Charm, a handheld device housing its Muse AI agent, will be able to recognize and interact with other Charms nearby. The gadget includes a built-in 5G modem, a two-inch OLED touchscreen, a fingerprint sensor, cameras, speakers, microphones, and a USB-C port, and can be set up via Meta's Muse app on iOS or Android. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the device is planned to launch in time for the December holidays, though pricing has not been confirmed.
Amazon is selling the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 for $229, down $40 from its $269 list price, marking the handheld's lowest price yet. Austin Fire Department Chief Matthew McElearney told NBC that Tesla's Cybercab, which relies on a touchscreen instead of a steering wheel for manual control, could hinder first responders trying to move the vehicle during emergencies. He noted the touchscreen requires power, training, and precision, which may not be feasible if responders are wearing gloves, covered in dust or sweat, or if the car is damaged.
A video posted on X shows a Tesla Cybercab's central touchscreen switching into an undisclosed control mode featuring a virtual joystick, letting a person drag a finger to steer the vehicle. The rider said the display appeared in this unusual configuration unprompted, and the screen also showed door controls, a support button, and a camera feed that seemed to include non-live imagery from a previous location. Tesla has not acknowledged or explained this manual-driving interface publicly.
