GoKawiilDerbyshire detective probed for using Microsoft Copilot in criminal case decisions
The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating a senior Derbyshire Constabulary detective for alleged gross misconduct linked to misuse of Microsoft Copilot. The officer is accused of using the AI tool to shape policy decisions, assess risk, and justify investigative choices, as well as entering sensitive case and personal data into it. The probe follows a voluntary referral from the force in June after an internal review, and will examine Copilot use between May 2025 and June 2026.
