EA has put 25 lightly remastered titles from its 1990s catalog up for sale on Steam and GOG, including nearly every Wing Commander and Ultima game, plus Road Rash, Theme Hospital, Strike Commander and the Crusader series. EA producer Jim Vessella detailed in a blog post how the Wing Commander, Privateer 2, and Road Rash remasters originated from a project cataloging an unsorted archive of old physical media at EA's Redwood Shores campus.

EA has launched 25 titles from its back catalog on Steam, GOG, and the EA app, including all Wing Commander and Ultima games, Theme Hospital, and both Crusader titles. Seven of these, including six Wing Commander entries and 1996's Road Rash, are Anniversary Editions featuring cutscenes rebuilt from original master tapes discovered in an EA storage room. Anniversary Editions cost $9.99 and other titles $4.99, with a 50% discount running until November 19, and existing GOG or EA app owners of Wing Commander titles get free upgrades.

Richard Garriott says he will regain ownership of the Ultima series from EA in 2027, using a US copyright provision that lets original rights holders reclaim IP 35 years after selling it, with no payment required. He confirmed he notified EA of his intent in April this year, and the publisher acknowledged the request and said it would comply with the law.
