GoKawiilUNEP report: 1.5°C climate target now unreachable, warming to hit 1.8°C
A new United Nations Environment Programme report finds that current global emissions trends put the planet on track for roughly 1.8°C of warming above pre-industrial levels this century, effectively ending hopes of holding warming to the 1.5°C target set under the Paris Agreement. UNEP's executive director Inger Andersen acknowledged that countries have delayed climate action, failing to cut emissions at the pace scientists said was necessary.
