General Motors says it used simulation technology to virtually test hundreds of thousands of battery configurations, completing the equivalent of 34,000 years of testing in under a month. The company now plans to apply the same simulation approach across other stages of vehicle development, having already spent roughly a decade researching lithium manganese-rich batteries that have yet to reach production vehicles.
