Amazon is selling Ring's newly released Battery Doorbell 2K at a $55 discount. The device records in 2K resolution with up to 6x zoom and a 140-by-140-degree field of view, and offers live view, two-way talk, and motion-triggered phone alerts. It runs on a USB-C rechargeable battery or can be hardwired to an existing 8-24 VAC doorbell system.
Ring states its video doorbells have a standard maximum motion detection range of about 30 feet (9 meters), though larger objects like passing cars can trigger alerts from farther away. Other brands publish shorter maximum ranges, and actual performance depends on camera sensitivity, mounting location, surroundings and software settings rather than visibility alone.
Ecobee is selling a refurbished version of its Essential smart thermostat (formerly the Lite) for $120 with free shipping, down from its $140 regular price, through its own refurbished store. The deal includes the same three-year warranty as a new unit and runs through Wednesday, October 21.
