Claude Code and Instinct run mobile AI agents inside dedicated microVMs

Coding assistants like Claude Code, Instinct, and Poke are shifting from local machines to cloud-hosted virtual machines so they can be accessed from phones. Inspection of Claude Code's setup shows it runs inside a Firecracker microVM with a custom Rust-based init process controlling the session over a vsock connection, while inference calls go out through a locked-down, MITM'd egress gateway to Anthropic's servers.

Libzmq gains native support for AF_VSOCK sockets

A technical write-up explains how libzmq now supports AF_VSOCK, the Linux socket address family used for VM-to-hypervisor communication, originally developed by VMware as VMCI. The piece notes that while several languages already offer low-level AF_VSOCK bindings, no higher-level abstraction existed until this libzmq integration, which lets developers use familiar ZeroMQ patterns instead of manually handling raw socket calls.
