Developers of the open-source PS5 emulator SharpEmu announced via X on September 25 that six of 55 tested PS5 titles now run at a playable 60 FPS, including Dreaming Sarah, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered. The milestone came with release v0.0.4-release.2, which added improved SPIR-V shader translation and updated Vulkan API support; 12 of the 55 titles reached a general 'gameplay' state.

AnyPS5 is an open-source tool that converts PS5 executables into Windows and Linux formats and recompiles shaders into SPIR-V for Vulkan, acting as a compatibility layer rather than a traditional emulator. Its GitHub page notes test builds have booted some games to the main menu, with a few reaching gameplay with audio, though a public build has not been released.

A GitHub user known as Uzbekunknown built a project called "dlss-nr-on-intel" that reimplements Nvidia's DLSS 5 71-block U-Net neural network to run on Intel's Xe2 architecture via the Vulkan cooperative matrix extension, rather than wrapping the original DLL. The code was largely written by AI assistants Claude and GPT-6 Astra, with the developer directing the process, and testing on Intel's Arc 140V graphics showed the technique working but extremely slow, around 10.5 fps at 360p in Tekken 7.
