Intel shares fall another 9% as chip-sector selloff tops $3.5 trillion since October
Intel stock dropped roughly 9% on Monday, extending losses after its worst trading day since 1974 last week, leaving the chipmaker worth less than half its late-September value. Memory and storage names including Micron, Sandisk, Seagate and Western Digital fell 6-8%, while Marvell dropped sharply even as it announced a $115 billion deal to acquire Lumentum. Chip and memory stocks have collectively lost about $3.7 trillion in market value since October 6, according to Yahoo Finance calculations, though Nvidia has held up comparatively well.
