Wi-Fi band steering can trap devices on slower 2.4GHz connections
Modern routers often combine 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and sometimes 6GHz frequencies under a single network name using a feature called band steering, letting devices automatically choose the best band. In practice, some devices stay locked onto the slower, more congested 2.4GHz band even when a stronger 5GHz signal is available, reducing connection speed and quality.
