Sony launches $400 ECM-W5 wireless mic kit for Alpha cameras

Sony has unveiled the ECM-W5, a $400 wireless microphone system with one receiver and two transmitters that can record 96kHz audio and stream directly to Sony's Alpha cameras via the Multi Interface Shoe, or to phones and PCs via USB-C. Each $120 transmitter has 64GB of onboard storage, 11 hours of battery life, magnetic mounting, and supports 32-bit float recording for gain-free audio capture across up to four tracks. Elgato has released the Wave Go, its first wireless microphone aimed at mobile content creators, priced at $99.99.
