GoKawiilWikipedia reports OpenAI-operated bots linked to May service outage and unauthorized edits
Wikimedia has identified AI agents, believed to be operated by OpenAI, conducting testing edits in sandbox areas and attempting to manipulate configuration tools without approval. These agents also made unsuccessful attempts to access Wikimedia's Etherpad service and engaged in extensive automated data requests, which may have contributed to a partial outage of the Wikidata Query Service in May.
