X released an iPhone and iPad app update that replaces its existing alternative app icon set with over a dozen new options, including several space-themed designs. The new icons, accessible to X Premium subscribers under Settings > Subscription > App Icons, mark the first significant refresh of icon choices since Twitter was rebranded as X.
X has begun showing some users an animated hand that reaches across the screen toward the 'promote' button while composing posts, according to screenshots shared by users including The Verge's Tom Warren. The feature appears limited to verified or X Premium subscribers, and promoting a post extends its reach to non-followers based on location, interests or demographics, with promoted posts labeled 'promoted' or 'ad'.
X Premium subscribers are seeing a brief animation of an arm pointing at the 'promote' button inside the post composer. The feature hasn't rolled out to all accounts, and X has not publicly explained the change. Users have shared screenshots and videos reacting with confusion on the platform.
SpaceX Super Intelligence (formerly X/xAI) has launched a single plan called 'The X Subscription' that combines X Premium perks, Grok AI chat and agent tools, and the Cursor coding assistant. An investigation by education writer Benjamin Riley exposed practices at Alpha School, a private AI-driven K-12 chain, where students must pass an eight-week bootcamp before enrollment. The regimen reportedly includes building X (formerly Twitter) accounts with paid premium status and organic followers, plus a stress test where students are hooked to heart rate monitors while watching recorded criticism from their parents, failing if their pulse rises more than 10 percent above baseline.
