Roland launches Melody Flip, a generative AI plug-in for music producers

Roland has released Melody Flip, a digital audio workstation plug-in that uses generative AI to create musical building blocks rather than finished songs. The tool draws from roughly 250 genre-based 'Palettes' to generate melodies, chord progressions, basslines, or drum patterns, either from scratch or based on a reference track fed in by the user. Outputs come as simple MIDI loops with basic instrument sounds, meant to be exported into a DAW and refined with other synths.

Samsung redesigns Galaxy Z Flip 8 cover screen to run full Android apps

Samsung has overhauled the Galaxy Z Flip 8's outer display, giving it a more phone-like interface with swipe-down notifications, quick settings, and an app drawer. The 4-inch cover screen now supports full versions of apps rather than the limited widgets Samsung previously favored, and it prompts users to install MultiStar, a Good Lock module that unlocks any app on the outer screen.

Class action accuses Oura of overstating Ring's sleep-stage accuracy

A class action lawsuit filed against Oura alleges the company misled consumers about how accurately its smart ring detects sleep stages, arguing it lacks sensors for brain waves, eye movement and other neurological signals needed to truly measure sleep. Plaintiff Madison Surber says she paid roughly $503 for the ring believing its tracking claims, and cites a Nature study suggesting the device's sleep-stage detection performs little better than random guessing.

Oura hit with lawsuit alleging sleep-tracking ring is barely more accurate than a coin flip

A class action lawsuit filed against Oura claims the company misled consumers about the accuracy of its smart ring's sleep-stage tracking. The suit argues Oura lacks sensors for brain waves, eye movement, and muscle activity needed to properly detect sleep stages, and instead relies on AI guesswork from heart rate, temperature, and breathing data. The named plaintiff, who paid $503 for the ring, says she was overcharged for a device that doesn't deliver the accuracy Oura advertises.

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE launches at $700 with flagship camera software

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE, priced $50 higher than its predecessor at $700 for 128GB and $800 for 256GB. The phone keeps a 12-megapixel selfie camera but widens its field of view, and it inherits several camera software tools from Samsung's pricier S26 and Z Flip 8, including Super Steady Video, My FanCam autoframing, and Audio Eraser noise removal that also works with Netflix and YouTube.

Graze acquired by Flipboard to expand custom social algorithm tools

Graze, a startup that lets users build and control their own social media feed algorithms, announced it is joining Flipboard. Over 21 months, Graze had delivered more than 41 billion posts to 12 million users, and its founder said combining forces with Flipboard would accelerate its mission rather than spending years rebuilding infrastructure already in place at Flipboard.

Walk-On's Cuts Restaurant Size in Half to Speed Up Expansion

Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, the sports bar chain led by CEO Brandon Landry, has begun opening restaurants roughly half the size of its traditional 7,000-to-12,000-square-foot format. A new 3,700-square-foot location in Atlanta generated $4 million in sales last year, and the company plans a similar-sized site in Birmingham as part of roughly 10 new openings targeted for 2026.
