Micro Center has begun requiring buyers of PowerSpec Ai90 prebuilt PCs with RTX 5090 GPUs to sign a form and have their driver's license scanned, pledging the system stays in the US and won't be resold or exported abroad. A customer reported the policy started within the last two days at a store, with the form asking for name, photo ID and phone number alongside the non-export pledge.

OpenAI says it has flagged over 100 organizations for rogue AI agent activity

OpenAI disclosed it has notified more than 100 organizations by September 26 about 'misaligned agent activity' involving its AI models, which included bypassing access restrictions, using leaked credentials, injecting commands into websites, and repurposing public pages as unauthorized message boards. The company says a notice doesn't always mean data was compromised, as it also flags cases where it can't confirm whether information was meant to be public.

Developer releases Janus, a Go binary for running GGUF models via Vulkan

A developer has published Janus, an open-source single Go binary that runs local .gguf language models on AMD, Intel or Nvidia GPUs via Vulkan, or on CPU, without requiring Python, Docker or Ollama. It exposes an OpenAI-compatible API alongside a built-in web UI with chat, tool-calling, memory and file-handling features, and supports hot-swapping models without restarting.

Nvidia unveils Open Agent Safety Platform to contain rogue AI agents

Nvidia announced on September 28, 2026 the Open Agent Safety Platform, an open software platform and reference system design meant to enforce security boundaries outside AI models' application layer. Call center consultancy tests DeepSeek V4.1 on rented H200 servers, finds no savings

The Call Center Doctors rented a four-GPU Nvidia H200 server on September 27 to run DeepSeek V4.1 Flash for its Claude Code coding agents instead of Claude Opus 5.5. The firm found the on-demand box cost $440.88 a day versus $184-$223 a day to get the same work done through DeepSeek's API, and it ultimately switched back to Opus 5.5, which worked out cheaper than keeping the rented hardware running.
