Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company founded by exiles from OpenAI, has introduced the first AI model that can produce either conventional output or a controllable amount of “reasoning” needed to solve more grueling problems. Anthropic says the new hybrid model, called Claude 3.7, will make it easier for users and developers to tackle problems that require a mix of instinctive output and step-by-step cogitation. “The [user] has a lot of control over the behavior—how long it thinks, and

The transcripts look a lot like those you’d see on YouTube. If one is available, it’ll appear in a sidebar next to the video as blocks of timestamped text, with each block highlighted as it’s spoken in the video you’re watching. The search bar for the transcript sits at the top of this sidebar, and clicking on specific text blocks will take you to that moment in the video. You can see the transcripts by clicking the settings icon at the bottom of the video and then choosing “Transcript.”

Annapurna Interactive is hosting its first showcase of the year, and it’s an important one. Anthropic is releasing a new frontier AI model called Claude 3.7 Sonnet, which the company designed to “think” about questions for as long as users want it to. Anthropic calls Claude 3.7 Sonnet the industry’s first “hybrid AI reasoning model,” because it’s a single model that can give both real-time answers and more considered, “thought-out” answers to questions. Users can choose whether to activate the AI model’s “reasoning” abilities, which prompt Claude 3.7 Sonnet to “think” for a short or l

YouTube has a vast library of videos to choose from, regardless of what your tastes may be. However, that pool of content is made a little smaller due to language barriers. In this respect, this has been one of the few areas where AI shines as YouTube’s AI dubbing feature has helped to make videos more

That’s according to new research, in which high-tech imaging revealed that many Vikings may have suffered from persistent, painful maladies in their heads. In 2005, archaeologists excavated the remains of over 300 Vikings in the town of Varnhem. The remains dated back to between the 10th and 12th centuries, making the site on
