N78 band 5G NR recordings

In my last post about 5G NR, which was part of a series in which I analyzed the signals in a short recording of an idle srsRAN gNB, I mentioned that I had already decoded all the signals that appear in the recording, and that to move on with my 5G series I would need to make and use some more complex real world recordings next. A 5G band I’m particularly interested in is n78 (3.3 – 3.8 GHz TDD). This is being used to deploy 5G in many European countries, including Spain, as showed by this list

Could 5G Home Internet Be Your Household Broadband Solution?

For most Americans, internet service providers are a constant source of stress and notoriously one of the country's lowest-rated industries. ISPs rank lower than social media, the US Postal Service and even airlines. It's not hard to see why. A recent CNET survey found 63% of Americans paid more for internet service last year than they had the year before. On top of that, wading through confusing details like hidden fees, yearly price hikes, contracts, service details and multiple speed tiers ca

Starlink vs. T-Mobile 5G Home Internet: Clash of the Broadband Disruptors

So, what makes Starlink and T-Mobile 5G Home Internet the biggest names in rural broadband? One word: Availability. Both providers offer extensive wireless coverage in places where fiber and cable can't reach, making them a top option for rural communities. While Starlink has effectively revolutionized satellite internet with its fleet of low Earth orbit satellites, and has reportedly doubled its speeds compared to two years ago, we would still recommend T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. Not only is i

I Get 5G on My Phone at Home, But Why Can't I Get 5G Home Internet? Here's What I Learned

If you can get 5G on your phone while you're at home, you should be able to get 5G internet at your house, right? I ran into this when I switched my mobile carrier from AT&T cellular service to T-Mobile phone service. I was immediately impressed with the phone's 5G performance. However, even though

The Galaxy A16 5G isn’t exciting, but there’s one big reason why I think it’s the best budget phone

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Samsung's Galaxy A16 5G doesn't revolutionize what it means to be a budget phone with new materials, an upgraded camera, or AI-powered features, but it delivers tons of value, backed by a flagship-grade update commitment that will see it supported for up to six years. It might not leap off the page, but this cheap Android phone is more than worth the money as a first phone or a long-term option for an older loved one. It’s tough to make a truly exciting budget Android phon

Does Apple’s C1 chip mean mmWave 5G is dead?

Apple achieved a major milestone yesterday, when it launched an iPhone with its own in-house modem instead of a Qualcomm one: the C1 chip. This has been a key goal for the company for a great many years for two reasons, so finally ticking the box is a pretty big moment … The twin benefits of the C1 chip As we noted yesterday, ditching a Qualcomm modem for the C1 is a double-win for Apple. First, Qualcomm’s fee structure, which Apple has long considered unfair. When Apple bought modem chips f
