Pluribus hails from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan. That detail alone has generated a lot of interest in the sci-fi series. Rhea Seehorn, who starred in Breaking Bad's legal-themed spinoff, leads the cast of Pluribus. Aside from that and the fact that the show takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, there are no other similarities between the new drama and Gilligan's other Emmy-winning titles.

Don't let that deter you, though. Pluribus is a sci-fi drama unlike anything else on TV. It's already being cited by critics as one of the best TV shows of the year.

The story of Pluribus centers on a global event that infects the majority of the world's population with an extreme sense of happiness. They've also developed a hive mind. How very Invasion of the Body Snatchers of them. It seems everyone has fallen to this new plague -- except Carol (Seehorn), a grieving, angry writer who makes it her mission to figure out what is going on and how it can be stopped.

Karolina Wydra, Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, Peter Bergman and Samba Schutte also star.

Pluribus release schedule: When to watch new episodes

According to Apple, Pluribus' release schedule finds the show dropping new episodes every Friday. However, the service typically releases these episodes on Thursday nights at 6 p.m. PT (9 p.m. ET), so technically you can watch each new episode on Thursdays, until the finale, which is set to drop on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 25. So, Merry Christmas.
