GoKawiilPluribus became an instant hit when it premiered on Apple TV last year. And creator Vince Gilligan just shared an exciting update on the progress of Pluribus season 2, and when it might return.
Pluribus season 2 is about to start filming, making late 2027 premiere likely
Pluribus creator Vince Gilligan appeared on Deadline’s Crew Call podcast this week. The episode mostly focuses on the show’s music, as composer Dave Porter is a guest as well.
But the subject of Pluribus season 2 comes up, and Gilligan shares a substantial update.
Here’s what he said:
I can’t wait for people to see season 2, because we just finished breaking it, and we’re going to start shooting it in a month—in a couple of months. And man I’m excited.
It’s unclear when the interview was recorded exactly. So the mention of filming beginning in “a couple of months” could mean as early as September. In any case, production kicking off so soon is an encouraging sign.
Immediately after this quote, Gilligan is asked if he’s “still thinking” the season 2 premiere date will be in late 2027.
It’s an interesting question because it assumes that Gilligan has previously mentioned that late 2027 timeline. As far as I’m aware, no such goal has been shared on the record. Gilligan deflects the question by joking that it will be “sometime in the 21st century.”
Late 2027 makes a lot of sense considering the expected filming timeline of around six months. Apple would no doubt prefer the show premiere at the same time of year as its first season, making November 2027 the likely target.
