Rhea Seehorn stars in Pluribus on Apple TV. Apple TV
Pluribus is proof, yet again, that Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan is a storyteller worth paying attention to. The only similarities between those two shows and his newest are the fact that Pluribus takes place, mostly, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Rhea Seehorn, who starred in the Breaking Bad spinoff, is the lead.
Instead of delving into the world of blue meth or the legal underbelly of the city, Pluribus goes in a completely different direction. This is a sci-fi drama, unlike anything else on TV. It also earned a spot on our list of the best sci-fi shows from Apple TV. Genre or not, it's one of the year's best new shows, period.
Pluribus follows the aftermath of a global pandemic that infects the world's population with an extreme sense of happiness. It seems everyone has succumbed to this new plague, except Carol (Seehorn), a grieving, aggressively grumpy romance writer who makes it her mission to figure out what is going on and how it can be stopped.
Karolina Wydra, Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Miriam Shor, Peter Bergman and Samba Schutte also star.
