Apple’s excellent Sports app for iPhone has a new version out today that includes two new features. Both MLB and NASCAR fans will appreciate the latest improvements.
MLB probable starting pitcher
First, Apple Sports version 3.9 adds a new Major League Baseball datapoint: probable pitcher.
“Now MLB fans can see the probable starting pitcher for each game in advance,” per the release notes.
The 2026 MLB season starts with the first pitch this Wednesday, with a single Opening Night game between the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
Netflix will be the exclusive streamer of the first MLB game of the season.
Next, Apple Sports is adding car numbers to the NASCAR leaderboard.
“Car numbers have been added to NASCAR leaderboards, making it even easier to keep up with your favorite drivers during races,” the release notes explain.
The current NASCAR season started in February and runs through November, so there’s still time for new fans to follow the action all season long.
