Apple's latest GarageBand update enhances user experience with a new macOS Tahoe-optimized app icon and several stability and usability improvements. For consumers and the industry, these updates highlight Apple's balanced approach to supporting both casual musicians and professional creators.

Apple has released a new version of GarageBand for Mac. The new version finally includes an app icon optimized for macOS Tahoe.

GarageBand now includes a macOS Tahoe app icon

Apple released macOS Tahoe to the public on September 15, 2025, over 200 days ago, so it’s great to see GarageBand finally receive the love it deserves.

While the new icon no longer has the gray compatibility box on macOS Tahoe, the actual app itself is still designed for macOS 15.

The release notes for GarageBand version 10.4.14 only mention stability improvements and bug fixes. The new app update also increases the minimum macOS version from macOS 14.4 to macOS 15.6, according to @aaronp613.
