GoKawiilPeople trying to use some of the most popular social media apps faced widespread issues Friday morning. The affected platforms included Facebook, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, all of which are owned by Meta.
Downdetector showed more than 80,000 reports of issues with Facebook around 7:15 a.m. PT (10:15 a.m. ET) Friday. (Downdetector and CNET are both owned by the same parent company, Ziff Davis.) Other high error rates were observed across different Meta services, namely Instagram and Facebook Messenger.
By about 8 a.m. PT, the platforms seemed to be operating close to normal, letting users log in, even if some features still had glitches.
