GoKawiilFollowing the usual tradition, the Apple Store is down ahead of this morning’s September Apple event, kicking off at 10 AM Pacific Time.
We are expecting Apple to announce the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, the foldable iPhone Duo, Apple Watch Series 12, and updated AirPods (fifth-generation).
This is the first event led by new CEO John Ternus, who has a bunch of new products to announce including the debut of the folding iPhone Duo.
The Duo will have a ~5.5-inch outer display when closed, and a ~7.8-inch display when opened up, a bit smaller than an iPad mini in size. The Duo’s big screen, when unfolded, enables immersive media experiences, and more productivity with split-screen multitasking of two apps at once.
Apple is expected to differentiate itself from other foldables on the market by focusing on premium build quality, including a custom-designed hinge. The crease along the center of the inner screen is expected to be minimal.
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will also be launched today, including new processors, improved camera system, and a new cherry red color option. The Dynamic Island on the new Pro models is shrinking in width, resulting in even less bezel. The starting price of the 18 Pro line is anticipated to rise by about $100.
The base model iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 will not make an appearance at this event. Apple is shifting the release schedule, so the entry-level iPhone will no longer launch in the fall. Instead, we expect it to arrive in the spring. Apple will presumably keep selling the base iPhone 17 until then.
Also today, we expect unveilings of the new Apple Watch lineup, Series 12 and Ultra 4, and new AirPods 5. The new Watches will reportedly include revamped health tracking functionality and a new AI feature that generates recaps of your daily whereabouts and conversations.
Other upcoming new Apple hardware includes a smart home display product, Apple TV and HomePod mini refreshes, and a MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touch screen. Most reports indicate these products will launch later in the year, likely as part of an October event.
