Apple today confirmed at its “Surprise and Shine” event that iOS 27 will be released in less than a week, on September 14. Here are the compatible devices.
Apple today announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, both running iOS 27. The new operating system was first unveiled at WWDC26 earlier this year and has been in developer and public beta testing ever since.
Alongside the new hardware, Apple confirmed that iOS 27 will be launching on September 14:
iOS 27 will be available as a free software update on Monday, September 14. Some features may not be available in all languages or regions, and availability may vary due to local laws and regulations. For more information about availability, visit apple.com.
The headlining feature of iOS 27 is the new Siri AI, its revamped, AI-powered assistant, developed with the help of Google’s Gemini models. The new Siri AI has its own app, but can also be invoked by pulling down from the Dynamic Island on the iPhone’s Home Screen.
It relies on the next-generation Apple Intelligence and new Apple Foundation Models, which run both on-device and in the cloud through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.
In addition to Siri AI, iOS 27 also introduces welcome adjustments to the Liquid Glass look, including a slider that lets users fine-tune the transparency effect on interface elements.
The update also brings performance improvements to app launches, Photos and Camera loading, AirDrop transfers, Wi-Fi-to-cellular transitions, and more.
