tvOS 27 adds revamped Apple Podcasts app, new Apple Music features, custom text sizes, more
tvOS 27 is now available to install via the Settings app on your Apple TV. The software is compatible with all Apple TV 4K models except the first generation; Apple TV HD is not supported.
Apple’s new tvOS 27 update adds the following features and changes:
Podcasts: Apple Podcasts gets a revamp on tvOS that follows a similar iOS update earlier this year. The new tvOS Podcasts app fully supports Apple’s new video features, making it a great place to watch video podcasts. And there’s a fresh design with sidebar navigation and more.
Software Updates via iPhone: One convenient tvOS 27 change is that you can now update your Apple TV 4K’s software directly from your iPhone. Using iOS 27’s Home app, you’ll be able to install tvOS 27 and subsequent updates without actually booting up your Apple TV.
Apple Music upgrades: Apple Music gets two new features in tvOS 27. AutoMix is coming to Apple TV as a fresh option for song transitions that are more DJ-like and could fit in well at a party. Hi-Res Lossless Audio is another addition, available for users with compatible external speaker outputs.
Larger text sizes: You can now use Dynamic Type in the Settings app to customize the size of text systemwide, letting you make it larger to better suit your needs and viewing setup.
Finally, Apple says that tvOS 27 supports faster AirPlay connections, smoother animations and app launches, and makes Control Center more responsive.
