Apple has distributed beta 1 of watchOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, tvOS 27.3 and related updates to developers, just a week after releasing iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 to the public. The betas are available now to enrolled developer devices through Settings, though public beta versions have not yet been released.
Apple has released build 24K154 of tvOS 27.2 specifically for the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, which launches November 13 and is currently available for preorder. This differs from build 24K122 that shipped last week to existing Apple TV models, though Apple has not published separate release notes explaining the differences.
Apple's latest tvOS 27 update excludes the Apple TV HD and first-generation Apple TV 4K, but both devices continue to receive support from services like Netflix. Apple's new Siri AI beta will run on the second-generation Apple TV 4K and later models, provided the household's Apple ID is linked to an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.
Apple released tvOS 27.2, adding Find My app support for the Siri Remote on older Apple TV models, ASL and BSL captioning options for select Apple TV app titles, and synced profile support between iPhone/iPad and Apple TV. The update also introduces a new black-and-white Apple Music icon matching iOS 27.2's redesign, and is available free for second-generation Apple TV 4K units and later.
Apple's upcoming tvOS 27.2 update introduces a 'Shuffle' option that cycles through all screen saver categories instead of restricting users to one. It also adds ASL and BSL sign language toggles in the Apple TV app's player controls for select titles, plus the ability to manually curate which Photos library content appears in Memories, Slideshows, or Portraits screen savers.
Apple announced that its new Siri AI features, launching with the redesigned Apple TV 4K, will also come as beta software to Apple TV 4K units dating back to the second generation released in 2021. The update will arrive as part of tvOS 27.2 this fall, on or before the new Apple TV 4K's November 13 release date.
Apple's tvOS 27 update adds a setting that lets users restrict which apps can be opened under a specific profile on Apple TV 4K. Previously, profiles could limit content within the Apple TV app itself but couldn't stop a child from opening an entirely different app.
Leaker pdfu found code in tvOS 27 revealing hidden controls to toggle audio for the Snoopy screensaver on Apple TV 4K, including On, Off and a 'Reduced' setting. The leaker notes that none of the current Snoopy content packages include actual audio files yet.
Apple's tvOS 27.2 beta 2 now lets users pair four HomePods—two sets of two—wirelessly through the Home app to serve as surround speakers for Apple TV 4K, according to FlatpanelsHD. The feature currently works with Atmos and surround audio from video content, but lacks the ability to assign specific speaker roles like front and rear, and menu or game audio still only plays through the front pair.
Apple has opened public beta testing for 27.2 software updates across iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and other platforms, matching the developer beta 2 build released a day earlier. iPadOS 27.2 adds a redesigned Health app with Apple Intelligence-powered Insights and Longevity tabs, Profiles support for the Apple TV app, and an expanded Siri AI feature previously limited to macOS. Users can access the betas via the Software Update section in Settings after opting into beta releases.
Apple has pushed out the second beta of its 27.2 software updates for developers, just five days after beta 1 arrived. The rollout covers iPadOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2 and related platforms, following last week's public launch of iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate. Notably, Apple skipped a 27.1 release for most devices, with reports suggesting that version is reserved exclusively for the rumored iPhone Duo.
Days after pushing watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and related updates to the public, Apple has begun testing the next round: developer beta 1 for watchOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, and other platforms. This move bypasses the widely anticipated 27.1 releases, which Apple had said would arrive in October alongside the iPhone Duo launch.
