A developer released IndexFlow, an open-source infrastructure project built in Rust that provides libraries for parsing XML sitemaps and analyzing technical SEO issues like canonical tags, robots directives, and metadata. The project is structured as modular components, including indexflow-sitemap and indexflow-seo, meant to serve as building blocks for a future commercial platform.
Marketing firm Vital Design saw organic blog traffic drop 60% as AI search tools rose, yet its sales-ready leads held steady or grew. The company credits a strategy called answer engine optimization (AEO), which aims to get AI chatbots to recommend a business during a customer's research phase before they ever visit a website.
AI-driven search tools such as Google's AI Overviews and conversational assistants like ChatGPT are increasingly pulling data from customer reviews to decide which businesses to recommend. This means the volume, recency and quality of a business's reviews are being read and weighted by algorithms, not just prospective customers. A thin or neglected review profile can make a business effectively invisible to these AI systems.
