EU officials voice doubts over European rival to Microsoft Teams

According to a report, three unnamed EU officials expressed skepticism about a homegrown European alternative meant to replace Microsoft Teams. The report notes that France earlier this year said millions of its civil servants will shift to domestic video-conferencing tools instead of Microsoft Teams and Zoom by 2027, and that Austria's military replaced Microsoft Office with Germany's LibreOffice last year.

Austria dig uncovers largest known Iron Age iron hoard, over a tonne of bars

Gravel excavation workers in northern Austria unearthed a cache of more than 1,000 kilograms of iron bars dating to the second or third century BC, according to a study published in Antiquity. Researchers say it is the largest such hoard ever recorded, containing enough raw metal to forge roughly 500 swords.
